About Gill Hall

THE FOUNDERS

Over the last 4 decades, Bill Porter has established a reputation as the premier builder of Georgian styled homes. He and his son James have a passion for precision and attention to detail that is clearly evident in everything they build. Beautifully proportioned and combining the charm of period styling with today’s technology, their developments exude quality. Their personal stamp is on everything from design to handover and they spend endless hours on site ensuring their homes are consistently excellent.

Alongside their market leading home construction business, Bill and James have also built an equally enviable reputation in the breeding of Champion herds of cattle and sheep. Their Aberdeen Angus bloodline OLD GLENORT and their UPPERMILL SHORTHORNs, (which is the oldest pedigree shorthorn herd in Europe), consistently win multiple awards at livestock shows and are recognised and respected across the cattle industry. They have successfully crossed these two herds to produce the unique ANGUSHORN breed which will be exclusively available on the estate when its restaurant, country club and cookery school come to fruition.

The farm at Gill Hall Estate has been created from scratch since the Porters purchased the acreage in 2010 and has played host to the international sheep dog trials and will be home to the highly significant World Sheep Dog Trials in Sept 2023.

The Vision

The Ultimate Country Estate Experience

Bill and James are now at the advanced stages of planning for the establishment of the total Gill Hall Estate experience which will include a 20 room Country House, Restaurant, Cookery School, Walled Garden and Country Club with Spa. It will become a leading destination venue, catering for weddings, events (private and corporate), concerts and will host sporting activities including angling and shooting.
